2023–Current Transcendent Landscapes Series

Since 2000, Pat Lay has been interested in using computer parts in her sculptures as a metaphor for the human condition. Creating a contrast between the organic and the machine, nature and culture.  She is asking questions about the influence of technology on our lives and all things living.

Heat sinks, cooler fans, and circuit boards have become metaphors and symbols for our technological age.

In the Transcendent Landscapes series, the hybrid forms question the interface between man, nature and technology. How is the increasingly complex role of technology in our lives blurring the distinctions between what is human and what is machine?
